In February 2000, Microsoft launched the Professional Edition of Windows 2000. Barrett Marketing was hired to project manage the development and implementation of the Windows 2000 Solution Center, a sponsor supported microsite on ZDNet, the world's largest technology portal. The microsite was used as part of the worldwide introduction of Microsoft's new operating system, Windows 2000. The purpose of the microsite was to serve as a gateway to an innovative online community; bringing together consumers and businesses with vendors that have developed hardware and software products that have been optimized for Windows 2000.

In addition to providing customers and businesses with a resource for evaluating and buying ancillary products, the Windows 2000 Solutions Center included content and services to help visitors learn about, use, and maximize the use of the new operating system. The site contained custom content on Windows 2000 including news, reviews, customer success stories, training information, migration information and a product showcase.

Barrett Marketing served as the project manager for the development and implementation of the Windows 2000 Solution Center. We were the interface between ZDNet and each of the 20 sponsors (which included Microsoft, Dell, Compaq, Intel, HP, 3Com, and Seagate). We aggregated content from ZDNet, Ziff-Davis Publications, third party content providers, Microsoft and all of the Solution Center sponsors. We also helped create, implement and coordinate all online marketing programs, promotions, co-marketing opportunities and helped establish metrics to measure the success of the program for each of the Solution Center sponsors.
